Heyo! If you are just starting with RWD drifting, or struggling to make your car drift well - like I did, you may find those little advices helpful.
TIRES! Get a set of tires designed for the specific surface you are running on! Period.
Dampers - use very thin oil (even up to 100) and super soft springs for the rear. It will improve your grip insanely.
Gyro - if you are running some cheaper starter gyro, you might want to change it up. Trust me, it is worth the investment. My personal preference is Yokomo RPG-302.
Geometry - it is very complex. You will have time to tweak and test things later. For the start, let someone more experienced do the geometry for you. Or copy some setup from the internets.
Steering lock - tweak your steering mechanism to get a decent lock. Utilize higher scrub radius knuckles, higher offset wheels and thinner suspension arms to get there.
Weight distribution - shift the weight the way you need it. If you still lack that rear grip, move it to the rear. If you your car understeers, move it to the front. Consider high motor mount, or high battery mount.
Set your ESC - you want forward/reverse with brake. Full brake to lock the rear wheels, zero drag brake to keep the wheels free when you let off the throttle.
Slow the servo speed - if you have that option on your transmitter, use it! Your gyro will still operate in full speed, but your steering inputs will be smoother and more precise, giving you more time to react.
Add weight - if you are willing to spend some extra money, add weight in aluminum upgrades. It will add traction and momentum, making the slides longer and more stable.
